"He's been playing you. He's totally playing you."
That's what our pediatrician said during today's 6-month checkup. We had just told her that TH still wasn't sleeping through the night; according to the doctor, the only reason TH is still waking up is that he wants our attention.
No surprise there, I suppose. On our pediatrician's advice, we're going to start Ferberizing TH tonight. Though since he got his shots today, he'll probably be even more vocal than usual.
More unsurprising news from our checkup: TH is huge. He has increased his bodyweight by an astounding 20% over the past 2 months, and is now 18 lbs, 5 oz. Meanwhile he grew 10% taller, for a total of 28".
TH got a little carried away on the weigh-in table. Such a feisty one!

hey sue... i haven't checked in for a while. we were on vacation and now we're in week 2 of sickness in our house. glad your holidays were fun. TH is BEAUTIFUL!!! wow. he's getting so old. he does look happy. they grow up at lightening speed, so i'm glad you're really enjoying the small moments right now. btw, i think buby started sleeping through the night at about 1 year, when i stopped breastfeeding. i have friends with kids who slept through after 5 weeks and others with 2 YEAR OLDS who haven't slept through the night once. can you imagine? so it's a crapshoot. i remember one night tom and i tried the ferber method (once buby didn't NEED to wake up for a feeding). we stood outside his door with a stopwatch, and i was balling. it's harder on the parents than the kid. we gave up... i ran in there after like 8 agonizing minutes to hold him. ha! my sis-in-law with 6 month old twins lets them cry/fuss every night for like 15 minutes before they fall asleep. she's stronger than i am. anyway, my point: everyone finds a different strategy that works for them... and every baby is different. buby napped a solid 3 hours a day for a year straight. i'm nervous #2 will NEVER nap. it's a crapshoot. but ya gotta love it.
