On Saturday morning we packed our rental hatchback to the brim with baby gear and drove down to the Jersey Shore -- specifically to Ocean City, NJ, where my family has now vacationed for 5 generations. My parents had rented a lovely beach house, and we were happy to crash there.

It was breezy on the boardwalk, so TH got to try on some fall looks.
But Saturday night was terribly hard on us -- it was the first night TH didn't sleep through in his entire, brief life. He would only sleep for around an hour at a time, and while some parents may call that normal, we were caught off guard. What, the ocean view from our bedroom window wasn't good enough for him?

The next morning we were all exhausted. TH and Proud Papa took a nap in an attempt to catch up.

That afternoon we showed TH the ocean for the first time, and he was fascinated by the crashing waves. He couldn't stop staring.

It was cool and gray outside -- bad beach weather, but perfect for walking around with a 7-week-old. That is, until it started to pour. Ah, well.
